Yanira Quiñones started creating Yocahu looking for an effective, non irritant, chemical free product for her sun damaged skin without compromising her health.
"Before Hurricane María in Puerto Rico, El Yunque Rainforest was the place where I always went and connected with nature, felt her love, became creative, meditated and felt total freedom. But after Hurricane Maria, I immediately felt the need to do something and began to plant different trees, spices, herbs, flowers and started to study their benefits on the skin and scalp.
Why are so many chemicals in a lot of products for our skin? After studying aesthetic medicine, I realized the damage they cause to our body due to our skin's ability to absorb most of the ingredients that we apply to it. I wanted to guarantee myself that I would never put toxins on my skin.
As a surfer I suffered from extreme dry skin, dehydration and my hair was always brittle and frizzy. I started formulating and combining emollients, superfood oils, organic extracts, and essential oils in the correct proportions until I got the right blends for my specific needs and started creating more formulas for other skin conditions.
Each drop is without perfumes, mineral oil, parabens, phthalates, chemicals, artificial fragrance, silicones, propylene glycol, sulfates or triclosan. It is guarantee 100% vegan, sustainable and non-toxic ingredients in each drop. I just wanted the best selection of nutrients for my skin and I am very happy to say that Yocahu is the best thing that ever happened to my skin.
